Dan Halpern has been teaching music in New Jersey for over 20 years. He has taught students of all ages and grade levels. He received his BA and MA from Rutgers University and specializes in percussion. His articles on music education have been printed in journals throughout the United States. He has served as a guest lecturer at Rutgers University and presented numerous sessions at music education conferences along the east coast. Mr. Halpern has been awarded several grants for educational programs, three of which were to commission original works for band from world-renowned composer, Joseph Turrin. Two of those works have been featured in the series Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. When he isn't teaching he loves spending time with his wife and two sons.
